Excellence Principles for the Holidays: 'Twas the Course Before Excellence

‘Twas the week before holidays and all through the land

Neither business nor government were resting from what they had planned

Principles of excellence embedded in the culture they know

Laid on top of processes, strategies, and values like snow.

The first principle is Leadership Through Involvement, you see

It means that leaders must both talk and walk quality!

The next one is Primary Focus on the Customer which means

All customers must be treated like Kings and like Queens.

Another principle is Cooperation and Teamwork and so

People need to work together like a television show.

The next principle about managing processes that I’m going to mention

Is that instead of reaction you need to Focus on Prevention.

When you’re making decisions how do you think you should act?

You’re much better off when those Decisions are Based on Fact.

This journey to excellence can be tough, let me stop you from turning!

The next principle will help - it’s about the importance of Involvement and Learning.

So what is the end game or the destination of all this movement?

It’s not perfection we’re after, it’s Breakthrough Thinking and Continuous Improvement.

The last principle on the list will bring in some variety.

It’s about how you need to Focus on Other Stakeholders and Society.

All-in-all you can see how this comes together

Quality is important and keeps employees happy like good weather.

If these principles are not familiar in your organization and you’re feeling remorse

You might want to learn and sign up for a course!

The lessons you learn in class and online will

Provide you with increased confidence and skill

Think about it as you plan out next year

Maybe Leadership, Maybe Framework, Maybe Mapping to get in gear.

The choice is yours as you drive out of sight.

Happy holidays to all and to all a good night.
