Don Wilson receives Board of Governors Recognition of Achievement Award

At the Canada Awards for Excellence on November 1, 2012 in Toronto, Don Wilson, Excellence Canada’s Executive Director for the National Capital Region , was recognized with the Board of Governors Recognition of Achievement
Award
. Don will be retiring from Excellence Canada December 2012.

Due to the tight agenda Don did not have the opportunity to publicly thank the Board of Governors and Excellence Canada during the formal ceremony. Here now is his thank you message for the Award.

I would first like to thank the Excellence Canada Board of Governors for the presentation to me of a Recognition of Service Award at the CAE Luncheon November 1st.  My involvement with NQI, now Excellence Canada,  has been one of the best periods in my life. Being able to work closely with Allan Ebedes, John Perry, Dan Corbett, Kathryn Cestnick, and all the other Staff members, has been both a privilege and an honour that will provide lasting memories for me.
Having spent over 40 years in and out of the quality business in National Defence, the Standards Council of Canada and, lastly, NQI/ Excellence Canada, has only served to increase my passion for quality, excellence,  and the benefits of a healthy workplace. Now that Excellence Canada has been formally launched, all Canadians can look forward to expert and professional organizational excellence support from the best organization Canada has to offer.
I will be turning over the role of Excellence Canada’s Executive Director for the National Capital Region to Steve Davies who will assume his duties January 1, 2012. In the meantime, he and I will be visiting a number of our NCR-based Partners.
Finally, I want to thank all our NCR Partners for their interest in our organization and for your enthusiastic support for our programs and for the annual Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair, co-hosted by Excellence Canada (and in the past NQI). I found you all very easy to work with and I appreciated the opportunity to support you wherever possible.

We wish Don all the best for his retirement and thank him for his many years of service.
